RCTC soccer falls in District Semi-finals to Joliet Community College

The RCTC Yellowjacket soccer season came to an end on Friday night as the Region XIII Champions fell to the Region IV Champions from Joliet Community College 5-0.  In what was a competitive game throughout under cold and drizzly skies at the Regional Stadium the Wolves of Joliet took advantage of loose balls in the box and scored on a pair of set plays to knock the Jackets out of the National Tournament chase.

The Wolves got on the board early with a goal on a scramble in the bos at the 3:30 mark.  For the next 30 minutes neither team could muster much offense as the score remained 1-0.  Joliet broke through again in the 34th minute on a goal off of a corner kick to go up 2-0.  With another tally just before halftime the Wolves took a 3-0 lead into the break.

Joliet scored twice more in the second half, once at the 70 minute mark and again in the 81st minute to seal the deal.  Joliet will next take on Delta College, who downed Anoka-Ramsey 1-0 in the other semifinal, at 1:00 at the Regional Stadium.  The winner of that game will secure the Midwest District title and a berth in the NJCAA National Tournament.

RCTC's season comes to an end with an 11-5-1 record, and the MCAC and Region XIII Championships.
