Tuttle finishes fourth at Worthington Open

Worthington, MN - The RCTC Yellowjacket wrestling squad headed west to the Worthington Open this past weekend.  While there the Jackets faced off against not only some of the top teams in NJCAA wrestling, but some of the top ranked NCAA Division II teams as well.  Augustana University, Minn State-Mankato, Northen State University, University of Siux Falls, and St. Cloud State all featured teams in the tournament.

RCTC was lead by Citto Tuttle who finished fourth overall, picking up a 15-3 win over Natahan Schauer of Northern State (DII) and a 13-4 win over Jesse Mains.  Ryan Tschetter had a great day for the Jackets winning a pair of matches at 125.  Winning 6-0 and 13-6 in his two wins.  He lost two tighly contested bouts, one 9-7 to Carter Katherman of NCAA DII AUgustana, and another 13-12 to Connor Vickrey of NAIA Briar Cliff University.  Vinny Alm also picked up a pair of wins for the Jackets.  Alm downed Devin Perez (7-3) and Logan Straub (6-1) at 165.  The Jackets also got wins on the day from Jonas Petrie who went 1-2, winning by fall over Tayven Wolfe from Iowa Central.  Michael Daivd got a 19-4 win at 165 over Anthony Thomas from Iowa Western.  At 141 Robert Wicks lost a piar of matches to NCAA DII wrewtlers from Mankato and St. Cloud, before winning 15-0 over Gabe Brazzel from Ellsworth Community College.

The Jackets will now gear up for the MCAC Duals Championships on January 25th.  The tournament, hosted by RCTC in the Performance Court of the Rochester Regional Sports Center, will feature all of the MCAC wrestling teams in a series of dual meets to determine the MCAC Duals Champion.  The event is set for 10:00am on Sunday.
