Moorhead, MN - First year RCTC wrestling coach and his Yellowjackets have been making the NCAA rounds over the last couple weeks. The Jackets wrestled Cornell College back on February 7th winning the dual over the Rams. They then took on DIII power Augsburg University on Friday February 19th in an unscored matchup. RCTC wound up its NCAA schedule with a dual against the Cobbers of Concordia Moorhead on Sunday. In a battle that went down the the end RCTC came out on top 21-18.
In a season where Open tournaments are not allowed due to COVID protocols, the Jackets and Cobbers not only competed in the normal dual format but were able to get in an additional 15 matches on the day.
In the official dual, the Jackets got wins from Brandon Kidd Jr (5-0 at 149), Seth Brossard (9-8 at 165), Gavin Christofferesen (7-1 at 184), Noah Broderson (8-3 at 285), Cael Bartels (by forfeit at 125), and in the critical final match at 133 Parker Dobrocky won 7-5.
In the "extra" matches, the Jackets got wins from Kidd, Isaac Denstad, Sage Loredo-Hollon, Wyat Simon (2), and Gavin Christofferson.
After over a month on the road, the Yellowjackets finally get their firtst taste of home cooking as they host Iowa Central on March 5th. The match is set for 6:00pm and will be held on the Performance Court of the Regional Sports Center.
