Ridgewater 97, RCTC 84
February 11, 2026, the Rochester Community and Technical College Yellowjackets hosted Ridgewater College in a fast‑paced and high‑energy basketball game. Even though RCTC stayed close in the first half, Ridgewater's strong rebounding and scoring balance helped them pull away in the second half, winning 97–84.
The first half was exciting and tight. Ridgewater scored 52 points, while RCTC kept the pressure on with 49 of their own. Both teams shot the ball well, as they each hit at above a 54% clip. RCTC looked sharp from the three‑point line early, while Ridgewater used strong inside play and second‑chance points to stay in control. The Jackets knocked down 8 threes in the first half to keep the game close.
In the second half, Ridgewater slowly took over. They outscored RCTC 45–35, mainly because of their size under the basket. Ridgewater grabbed 39 rebounds compared to RCTC's 32, including 10 offensive boards that gave them extra scoring opportunities. RCTC played hard but had trouble keeping Ridgewater off the glass.
Ridgewater had several standout players.
- DeAndre Holloway had a huge night with 25 points and 14 rebounds. He was tough to stop inside and also added three blocks on defense.
- Tyrese Mayo scored 23 points, showing great control with the ball and making strong drives to the basket.
- John Hooker was perfect from the field, going 5‑for‑5 and finishing with 14 points and an impressive 11 rebounds.
- Ridgewater also got a boost from Kyler Pickle, who scored 10 points off the bench and knocked down two three-pointers.
As a team, Ridgewater shot 53% from the field and made 20 out of 30 free throws. Their physical play and balanced scoring gave them the advantage.
RCTC had strong performances as well.
- John Johnson led the Yellowjackets with 15 points, plus five rebounds and five assists.
- Dominic Martinez‑White scored 13 points off the bench and added five rebounds and six assists, giving RCTC a big spark.
- Carson Brown added 12 points and seven rebounds, working hard all game even while facing tough defense.
- Josh Fiecke also played well off the bench, scoring 10 points and hitting two threes.
RCTC shot 48% from three‑point range and moved the ball well, finishing with 21 assists. But turnovers were a major problem—they committed 22 of them, which gave Ridgewater too many easy chances. Even though the Yellowjackets fought hard, those mistakes made it difficult to keep the game close in the second half.
In the end, Ridgewater's rebounding, size, and efficiency helped them secure the 97–84 victory. The Jackets are right back on their home court Saturday as they take on MN West at 2:00. This will be the second match-up between the two teams this week as they played in Worthington on Monday, with the Bluejays winning a tight contest 68-65.
