RCTC Stuns Dakota County Tech With Dramatic Comeback Win, 74–72 in OT
On a night that began with frustration and cold shooting, the Rochester Community and Technical College Yellowjackets found a way to deliver in the second half. Trailing by 17 at halftime and looking disjointed on both ends, RCTC roared back in the second half and ultimately outlasted Dakota County Technical College in a thrilling 74–72 overtime victory on February 7, 2026.
The opening 20 minutes belonged entirely to Dakota County Tech. Behind efficient shot‑making from D'Marco Chelley and Parker Fahning, the Blue Knights built a commanding 36–19 halftime lead. Chelley knocked down five threes on his way to a game‑high 22 points, while Fahning dominated the glass and scored 20 points with 10 rebounds. Their inside‑outside combination frustrated the Yellowjackets, who shot just 9‑for‑36 in a sluggish first half and struggled to contain DCTC's physicality.
Everything changed after the break.
RCTC emerged with renewed energy, especially on the defensive end. The Yellowjackets forced turnovers, controlled the boards, and began finding rhythm on offense. Carson Brown carried the early scoring surge, finishing with 18 points on 8‑of‑12 shooting, repeatedly attacking the lane and giving RCTC a stabilizing presence. Tycen Vig added toughness and timely scoring, contributing 12 points and 8 rebounds while battling DCTC's frontcourt.
The real spark, however, came from the RCTC bench. Josh Fiecke delivered a perfect shooting night—4‑for‑4 from the field with a three—to provide a crucial boost, while Brandon Wilson changed the game in the second half. Wilson scored 15 points, grabbed six rebounds, and handed out four assists in 25 impactful minutes, helping power the Yellowjackets' stunning 40–23 second‑half advantage.
DCTC tried to hold on as Chelley continued to hit key perimeter shots, but RCTC's defensive pressure disrupted the Blue Knights' efficiency. After committing just seven first‑half turnovers, DCTC coughed up the ball repeatedly under the Yellowjackets' surge. Still, with Fahning's interior scoring and Chelley's clutch shooting, the Blue Knights forced overtime tied at 59–59.
In the extra period, both teams traded blows. Wilson and Brown attacked the rim, while Vig and John Johnson—who despite shooting 1‑for‑9 at the line still contributed 7 points, 7 rebounds, and 4 steals—made critical hustle plays. DCTC leaned heavily on its stars once more, but foul trouble and cold shooting inside the arc began to catch up. DCTC tied the game with under 10 seconds remaining before Carson Brown scored the game winner with just .8 on the clock to finish the comeback.
The Jackets will be back in MCAC Divisional play on Monday as they travel to Worthington to take on MN West.
