RCTC Men's Basketball Leads From Start to Finish to down Minnesota North College-Hibbing 87-56

The Rochester Community and Technical College (RCTC) Yellowjackets delivered a commanding performance Friday night, defeating Minnesota North College-Hibbing 87-56 at home. With this win, RCTC improves to 5-6 on the season, while Hibbing falls to 2-10.
From the opening tip, the Yellowjackets set the tone with aggressive defense and efficient shooting. RCTC jumped out to a 44-29 lead at halftime and never looked back, outscoring Hibbing 43-27 in the second half to seal the victory.
Balanced Scoring and Team Play Lead the Way
The Yellowjackets showcased depth and balance, with four players scoring in double figures. Sophomore forward Tycen "Jack" Vig led the charge with 16 points on an impressive 7-of-10 shooting, adding nine rebounds to dominate the paint. Carson Brown contributed 15 points and seven boards, while Sam Hemery provided a spark off the bench with 14 points, including two three-pointers. Charlie Morning added 10 points and a team-high six assists, orchestrating the offense.
As a team, RCTC shot a stellar 52.9% from the field and matched that percentage from beyond the arc, hitting 9-of-17 three-point attempts. The Yellowjackets also controlled the glass, outrebounding Hibbing 40-31, and shared the ball effectively with 26 assists on 37 made baskets.
Defensive Pressure and Hustle
On the defensive end, RCTC forced 20 Hibbing turnovers and limited their opponent to just 33.3% shooting overall and 13.8% from three-point range. The Yellowjackets' defensive intensity was evident throughout the game, with 10 steals and strong rebounding that prevented second-chance opportunities.
