Rochester, MN - The #2 ranked RCTC women's volleyball team kept two streaks alive against Western Tech tonight as they moved to 9-0 in matches and 27-0 in sets with their 3-0 win.
The match started close as the two teams were tied at 6-6 in the first set before RCTC eventually pulled away to a 25-16 win. In sets two and three the Jackets never let Western find a rhythm as they closed out the match 25-10 and 25-5.
The Jackets were lead in the match by Haley Dessner and Carrie Rutledge. Dessner had 13 kills and hit a whopping .455 for the match, while Rutledge had 12 kills. Molly Kleist added 8 kills and a .368 hitting percentage, while AnnMarie Jalmasco added 6 kills and hit .625. Brekkin McCready added 41 assists and 16 digs for the match. In addition to her 13 kills Dessner added 13 digs and libero Kate Bade added 12 digs. Maddison Sawyer and Rutledge each had 2 service aces on the night.
The Yellowjackets hit .363 as a team in the match while holding Western Tech to 14 kills total, and a .000 hitting percentage.
RCTC is back in action on Friday, hosting the Yellowjacket Invitational. RCTC host Des Moines Area Community College at 1:00 and then plays the College of Dupage at 5:00. Then on Saturday the Yellowjackets take on Madison College at 3:00pm and North Iowa Community College at 5:00.
