RCTC Volleyball goes to 12-0 to win MCAC Southern Division Title

Rochester, MN - The RCTC Yellowjackets rolled to two 3-0 sweeps this past weekend to lock up an undefeated MCAC Southern Division schedule.  The Jackets, who only dropped 1 set in conference play on their way to a 12-0 league mark, downed Ridgewater (28-26, 25-22, and 25-16), and MN State Fergus Falls (25-16, 25-12, and 25-21) to claim the title.

In the first match of the weekend the Yellowjackets held off a determined Ridgwater team to earn the win.  RCTC was lead by Carrie Rutledge with 19 kills and a .385 hitting percentage.  Rutledge was the only Yellowjacket hitter in double figures, as Mariah Steinbach contributed 8 kills (.312).  Katlyn Bade had 16 digs and Brekkin McCready dished out 37 assists.

Match two featured to NJCAA Division III ranked teams with the fourth ranked Yellowjackets downing 7th ranked Minnesota State in 3 sets.  The RCTC Yellowjacket offense came to life in the match, as setter Brekkin McCready guided the jackets to a .349 team hitting percentage. Rutledge once again lead the Jackets with 10 kills.  Hailey Bahr and Kaelyn Marzolf added 13 combined kills without a hitting error. Katlyn Bade and Rutledge each add 10 digs, while McCready had 38 assists.

The Jackets held Minnesota State to only 26 kills and an .077 hitting percentage for the match.

RCTC is next set to host the Region XIIIA Championship this Friday and Saturday (November 2nd and 3rd).  With a trip to the NJCAA national tournament on the line, RCTC will first face St. Cloud Technical College on Friday with the winner advancing to Saturday's noon championship match.  The second semi-final will pit Ridgwater against Minnesota State - Fergus Falls, also on Friday.  Match times are 6:00pm and 8:00pm.
