Rochester, MN - The RCTC women's soccer teamed earned a berth in the NJCAA Region XIII soccer final by downing MN West 13-0 in the semi-finals. The Yellowjackets came out strong early scoring 3 goals in the first 5 minutes of the contest, before scoring 4 more in the remaing 40 minutes of the first half to take a 7-0 lead into the break. The Jackets added 6 more tallies in the second half for the win.
RCTC got three goals each from Jaila Hill, Kaela Cheak, Ally Weaver and Mae Litschauer. Litschauer also added five assists to her big night. Hill and Cheak each added two assists to go with their hat trick.
Despite the final score, MN West goalkeeper Ann Parlett-Connelly had a very solid night in net. The Jackets kept her under constant pressure and she had a number high quality saves, ending the night with 30 total saves.
The Yellowjackets now head to Anoka-Ramsey to take on the Golden Rams in the Region XIII final on Sunday. The Jackets recently tied Anoka 1-1 in overtime in a very evenly matched contest. Kick-off for the game will be at 2:00pm.
