Duluth, MN - The RCTC women's soccer team moved to 5-1 on the season and pushed their record to 2-0 in league play with a 5-1 road vicrtoy over Lake Superior College on Saturday. The Jackets withstood some early pressure before taking control in the second half to earn the victory.
Coach Bryan Weiss and his Yellowjackets found themselves in a tight battle through the first half as the Jackets lead only 1-0 at the half. In the second half the Jackets controlled possesion and added 4 goals to seal the win. Coach Weiss said "We really had to earn this win. Lake Superior College came out looking to play an aggressive, high pressure game. In the first half they held us to just one goal. In the second half we were able to relax and find some composure. This lead to extended possession strings and four more goals.”
RCTC was lead by Jailia Hill and Mae Litschauer, each with two goals on the game. Mackenzie Swanson-Larson added a goal and two assists, while Ally Weaver had two assists as well. Fatima Sanchez Hernandez had 10 saves on 11 shots, allowing only the one late goal.
RCTC has now outscored their opponents 31-6 on the season. Next up for the Yellowjackets is a road test against Viterbo University on Tuesday. The V-Hawks handed RCTC their only loss so far on the season (a 0-4 loss back on September 4th). After the game against Viterbo, RCTC then hosts Martin Luther College for Homecoming at the Regional Stadium on Thursday, September 14th. Kickoff is scheduled for 4:00pm
