Rochester, MN - The RCTC women's soccer team got their season off on the right foot Thursday afternoon as the Jackets earned a road win in their season opener. RCTC traveled north to take on Dakota County Technical College in the season opener for both teams. Behind the first collegiate hat trick for Mae Litschauer and the first collegiate shutout for Fatima Sanchez Hernandez the Jackets downed DCTC 3-0.
Litschauer got the scoring going early in the first half off of a feed from Rachel Foster. The goal proved to be the only tally of the first half as the Jackets lead 1-0 at the break. The second half proved once again to be all RCTC as Litschauer scored twice to complete the hat trick. Assists in the second half went to Jaila Hill and Makenzie Swanson Larson.
Despite the 3 goals, it may have been the RCTC defense that made Head Coach Bryan Weiss smile the most as the Jackets kept DCTC off the scoreboard. Sanchez-Hernandez had 12 saves in the contest to earn the shut-out.
RCTC continues their season opening road trip a week from today on Thursday, August 29th as they head to Faith Baptist for a 5:00 kickoff.
