Slow Start Haunts Women's Soccer in 4-1 Loss

Rochester, MN - A slow start to the game haunted the RCTC women's soccer team in their home game against the Anoka Ramsey Golden Rams on Wednesday evening.  RCTC gave up 2 goals in the first 15 minutes, as well as a penalty kick in falling to the Rams 4-1 at the Rochester Regional Stadium.

Anoka's first two goals took deflections  leaving RCTC goalkeeper with no chance to make the save.  Both were close goals that deflected awkwardly off bodies in front of Baack finding their way into the net.  Anoka's third goal on a windy afternoon, was courtesy of a penalty kick.

Trailing 4-0 at the break, the Yellowjackets came out with renewed energy in the second half and seemed to have the better of play for a significant portion of the period.  A mishandled shot by the Anoka goalkeeper led to Micayla Biffert jumping on the rebound and tucking it into the back of the net.  Biffert's goal was the lone goal for either team in the half.  Sarah Baack, who was back in net after an injury, made 10 saves for the jackets.

RCTC is back in action taking to the road for a rematch with Lake Superior College.  RCTC and LSC played to a 2-2 double overtime draw this past weekend.  Kickoff is set for 11:00am in Duluth, MN.
