Rochester, MN - In a near repeat of their last outing one period proved to be the undoing for the Rochester Community and Techinical College Yellowjackets against Northland tonight. The Jackets led after one period by the score of 18-17, but it was period number two that made all the difference as the Pioneers outscored the Yellowjackets 21-7, and never looked back on their way to a 63-47 victory.
In the decisive second period Northland used a 14-2 run to take command of the game and lead 38-25 at the break. The Jackets held their own in the second half, winning the final period 13-10.
Alyssa Whitson, had a stat filling night, scoring 9 points, while pulling down 6 rebounds, and 2 assists. Grace Riley scored 10 points, while Olivia Matti had 8 ppints and 2 steals. RCTC was outrebounded 40-31 on the night, and shot 36% from the field compared to 44% for the Pioneers. Northland also outscored RCTC 24-9 from beyond the arc.
