Despite loss RCTC women are playoff bound

Worthington, MN - Despite the RCTC women's basketball teams loss on Saturday to MN West (62-75), the jackets are heading to the Southern Division playoffs once again.  RCTC has locked up a spot in the top four in the Division standings with one game to go.  RCTC could still be the #3 seed with a win on Tuesday night against MN State Fergus Falls.  A loss would put them in a tie with MN West for the third and fourth seed.

In the game on Saturday the Lady Jays got off to a quick start, leading 24-16 after the first quarter.  RCTC wone quarter #2 14-12, but a strong third quarter by MN West  (21-14) put the game out of reach.

RCTC's Olivia Matti continued her outstanding season pouring in 21 points on 8-14 shooting.  Grace Riley added 18 points for the game.  Both teams shot 40% for the contest, but it was MN West's success at the line that proved to be the difference.  The Lady Jays hit on 16-24 from the charity Stripe while RCTC was just 4-7.  RCTC committed 23 fouls to only 9 for MN West.

With final seeding on the line the Yellowjackets will take on MN State Fergus Falls on Tuesday night at the Sports Center.  Gametime is set for 5:30pm.  The game will be the final home game for Coach Steve Hucke, who announced he is stepping down from women's basketball at the end of the season.  Coach Hucke will remain as the Head Baseball Coach.
