Myrtle Beach, SC - The RCTC Yellowjackets wrapped up their Spring Break trip with games against, Henry Ford, John Wood, MacMurray, and Lackawanna. RCTC fell to all four teams and head back to Minnesota with an overall record of 3-8.
The Jackets ran into a buzz saw in game one against Henry Ford, as Brenna McCalister proved unhittable. She did not allow a hit and struck out five Yellowjackets in the game. Offensively Henry Ford got 2 homeruns and 7 doubles against starter Emma Bartholomew enroute to the 8-0 win. The Jacket bats started to come to life in their next two games, as they fell 16-5 to John Wood and 10-2 to MacMurray. Against John Wood, Mattie Hellerud was 1-3 with 2 RBI, Makenzie Swanson-Larson, Caitlyn Sowieja, and Lexi Newsom each had a hit and an RBI. Emma Bartholomew went 5 innings, walking 5 and striking out three. Against MacMurray, Swanson-Larson added another RBI, and Amanda Johnson went 1-2 with an RBI.
In the Jackets final game of the trip, RCTC once again ran into a pticher who had things rolling, as Stephanie Kibbe gave up only two hits in the 5 inning shutout. Isabella Gilk and Haylee Sawyer contributed the two RCTC hits in the game, while Gilk went 5 innings, giving up 11 hits and 7 earned runs.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the NJCAA has postponed all spring sport competition through April 3rd. This means that the Yellowjackets games on Sunday March 29th in the Rosemount Dome will be postponed, as will Day one of the Crossover Tournament hosted by the College.
