RCTC wins big at home over Western Tech 75-55

Rochester, MN - The RCTC Yellowjackets won big on their home court tonight as they downed the Cavaliers of Western Tech 75-55.  The Jackets blew open a tight game after halftime as they outscored WTC 44-29 in the second half, after leading by only 5 (36-31) at the break.

RCTC was lead on the night by Kong Kong who had another double-double.  The sophomore from Mankato scored 21 points on 10-14 shooting and added 10 rebounds.  Jerome Cunningham added 12 points while Ray Adams added 9. Elijah Flernorl had 6 points on two 3 pointers to help break things open midway through the second half.

The Jackets defense was all over the Cavaliers as they held WTC to 33% shooting in the game, including 11% (2-18) from beyond the arc.  RCTC outrebounded WTC 45-28 on the night, and had 14 offensive rebounds which lead to 21 second chance points.  RCTC shot 50% in the game including 38% from beyond the arc.

RCTC (17-5, 6-3) is back in action on Saturday, as they hit the road to St. Cloud to take on SCTCC.  The Cyclones currently lead the MCAC Southern Division.  Gametime is set for 3:00.

Next Wednesday RCTC takes on Riverland in "Mind Your Mental Health Night".  Student Life, Health Sevices, and Athletics are partnering up with Zumbro Health for a night of Mental Health Awareness, t-shirts, and a halftime lightning contest!
