Rochester, MN - The RCTC Yellowjacket men's basketball team knocked down 6-7 free throws down the stretch to knock off Madison College 74-66 in non-conference action at the Rochester Regional Sports Center. The Jackets now head into the Thanksgiving Break at 3-1 on the season.
The Yellowjackets who shot 41% in the first half took a 34-32 lead into the break. It was Madison, however who came out of the break on fire, as they built a 7 pioint lead midway through the second half. The Jackets clawed their way back into the game and regained the lead with about 4 minutes remaining. From their it was the RCTC free throw shooting that sealed the deal, as they knocked down 6 of 7 in the final minutes for the win.
The Jackets got another big game from Kong Kong, who lead the way with 18 points and 16 rebounds. He also had 3 blocks on the night. Mickey Jah added 11 points and 4 assists in the game. Karmoga Lero and Devin Melzer each added 10 points off the bench, and Jashawn Campbell delivered 5 assists in 21 minutes.
For the game the Jackets hit hit on 27-58 field goals (46.6%), while holding Madison to only 38% from the field. RCTC also hit on 17-24 free throws.
RCTC is back in action taking on the JV of Bethany Lutheran next Tuesday, December 3rd
