Rochester, MN - The RCTC Yellowjackets were facing a tough mental test heading into today's game against MN State Fergus Falls. The Jackets just won two of their biggest games of the year, a double overtime win against previously undefeated St. Cloud a week ago, and then a two point 77-75 win over #7 ranked Riverland on Wednesday. Things were set-up for a mental lapse in the Jackets final home game of the season, but coach LaPlante's guys weren't about to let that happen as they sprinted to a 49-24 halftime lead, before wrapping things up 91-53.
The Jackets got big games from Devin Melzer (21 points and 9 rebounds), Jerome Cunningham (28 points on 13-19 shooting), and Kong Kong (13 points and 13 rebounds). Ben Jackson added 15 points on a perfect 7-7 from the floor and Elijah Flenorl had 8 points. Keonte Williams added 6 ppoints and lead the jackets with 5 assists.
RCTC shot nearly 57% from the floor on the game and outrebounded MN State 44-20. RCTC held the Spartans to only 36% shooting on the game.
The Jackets, who picked up their 20th win of the season today, wrap up conference play next week on the road, as they head to Anoka Ramsey on Wednesday, before taking on MN West on Saturday. RCTC is currently 20-5 overall and 9-3 in the MCAC Southern Division.
