Rochester, MN - The RCTC Yellowjackets have been in the middle of a Southern Division gauntlet of games recently, as they played the top teams in the division all in the last 10 days. Coach Laplante's team got exactly what they needed tonight as they downed the Golden Rams of Anoka-Ramsey 75-62 in the Sports Center. The win moves the Jackets to 13-5 on the season, while dropping Anoka to 8-9.
The game was tight throughout the first half as RCTC took a 40-38 lead into the break, thanks in large part to 50% (4-8) shooting from beyond the arc. In the second half the Jackets slowly plulled away, building a 16 point lead with 4:13 remaining before settling on the final 13 point win. RCTC had 4 players score in double figures, lead by Kong Kong's 15 points. Karmoga Lero had 13, while Ray Adams and Jerome Cunningham each added 11.
Lero had a solid all-around game as he added 6 rebounds, 3 assists, and 2 steals to his 13 points. Kong once again had a double double as he lead all players with 14 points and had 4 blocks. The Jackets outscored Anoka 19-10 at the free throw line and held the Golden Rams to only 34% shooting overall.
RCTC hits the road this weekend, as they head to Fergus Falls to take on MN State - FF. Tipoff is set for 2:00 on Saturday. The Jackets are then back on their home court next Wednesday against Minnesota West, with tip at 7:00pm
