Rochester, MN - The NJCAA selected Rochester Community and Technical College men's basketball player Kong Kong as its National Player of the Week this week. Kong, a sophomore from Mankato, MN, helped the Yellowjackets, down Western Technical College and previously unbeaten St. Cloud Technical and Community College this past week.
Over the two games Kong averaged 23 points per game and shot 61.5% from the field, while averaging 12 rebounds per game. In the Jackets 20 point home win against WTC Kong was 10-14 from the field for 21 points and 10 rebounds. Against SCTCC, Kong delievered 25 points and 14 rebounds in the Jackets double overtime thriller (110-101)against the then #3 ranked and undefeated Cyclones.
For the season Kong is averaging a double double with 16.3 points and 10.7 rebounds per contest.
The Yellowjackets are currently 18-5 on the season and ranked #12 in the most recent NJCAA Division III National Rankings. Kong and his teammates will take on #7 ranked Riverland Community College tonight (Wednesday, February 12) on the Performance Court of RCTC. Game time is scheduled for 7:00.
