Rochester, MN - The RCTC Yellowjackets held the Riverland Blue Devils to only 27% shooting from the field in winning 69-56 in the Sports Center tonight. RCTC forced 18 Blue Devil turnovers, including 112 steals on stifling the Riverland offense.
The Yellowjackets, on the other hand, hit on 43% from the field, including 50% in the second half. RCTC had three players score in double figures, led by Karmoga Lero's 19 points. Mark Manyuon added 14 while DaMichael Brown poured in 12 points on 6 of 9 from the field. Naa'il Mahdi and Eddie Oyet each added 6 points and 6 assists on the game. Lero led the Jackets with 7 assists.
RCTC's largest lead of the contest came late in the game as the built a 68-45 lead with only 5 minutes to go. RCTC hit on 4 of 5 free throw attempts while Riverland knocked down 9 of 16. Both teams had 50 rebounds.
RCTC is back on their home floor taking on #6 ranked and undefeated St. Cloud Community and Technical College this Saturday. Tip-off is at 3:00 on the Performance Court of the Rochester Regional Sports Center.
