Rochester, MN - The RCTC men's basketball team got back to their winning ways downing St. Cloud Tech today on the Performance Court in Rochester 83-75. In a game that was close throughout, the Yellowjackets took advantage of a 15 point cushion early in the game (first 6 minutes)and went toe to toe for the final 30 minutes to secure the win. The Jackets held a 44-37 lead at the break before playing to a near draw (39-38) in the second half.
RCTC had a big night from Tyree Caruthers as the sophomore filled the stat sheet. Caruthers had a doube-double with 16 points and 16 boards, but also added 7 assists, 3 steals, and 2 blocks. He was joined in double figures scoring by Jumah'Ri Turner who lead the Jackets with 23 points, and Mike Cornelious who added 16.
St Cloud hoisted up 33 3-pointers on the night hitting on 9 while RCTC was 5 of 9 from beyond the arc. RCTC shot 47% from the floor while holding St. Cloud to 43% shooting. SCTCC held a 16-14 advatage from the free throw line, while RCTC hit on 32 field goals to St Cloud's 25.
The Yellowjackets hit the road on Wednesday, Februay 7th travelling down I-90 to take on Western Tech.
