Grand Rapids, MN - Itasca quarterback Mitch Miller threw for 550 yards and 4 touchdowns, and the RCTC offense couldn't keep pace as Itasca downed RCTC 54-3 in the regular season finale for the Yellowjackets. Miller, connected on 21 of 35 passes including 3 50+ yards throws.
Greg Henry, lead the RCTC offense racking up 70 yards rushing on 18 carries. RCTC once again proved to be their own worst enemy on offense turning the ball over 5 times in the game...The Jackets fumbled twice and threw 3 interceptions on the game. Itasca got out of the gates quickly putting up 17 points in the first quarter, and then 16 in the second to take a 33-0 lead into the halftime break. Quarter number three proved to be more of a defenive frame as Itasca put up 6 points (touchdown with a blocked extra point), before outscoring the Jackets 15-3 in the final quarter.
In addition to Henry's 70 yards on the ground, RCTC quarterbacks Michael Schimming and Shane Fleury teamed up for 7-17 and 67 yards on the day. Cazz Martin had two catches for 27 yards and Ben Thompson had two for 22 yards.
On the defensive side of the ball, Jamel Smith had 11 tackles while Anthony Harper, Kenneth Nwachi, and Larry LeCount each had 8. Nasheed Hargove had 1.5 sacks while Carter Fishbaugher, Damon Stokes, Prentiss Sayeweh, and DeShawn Armstrong each had half a sack. Eric Snook forced and recovered the lone Itasca fumble on the day.
The Jackets finished the season 1-6. The Jackets were scheduled to travel to Ridgewater Community College this coming weekend, however Ridgewater suspended their season and will not play the final scheduled contest.
